Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to find out the effect of thematic curriculum on the teaching and
learning in lower primary. Some schools especially those in Peri-urban use English language as a medium of instruction in Tororo county. Tororo county being a multi-politan county the use of local language as a medium of instruction in schools was under threat as a result of many tribes in the area. It was a common understanding that some learners and most teachers in Tororo county were not familiar with the local language used as a medium of instruction for the thematic curriculum. Local language should be encouraged to be used as a medium of instruction for the implementation of the thematic curriculum.
