Abstract:
The objective of this study was to investigate how Domestic Chores affect student’s retention in Northern Division Mbale City. Domestic chores could be having an effect on school attendance of children and on the general retention of children in school. Students end up being absent from school due to fatigue or lack of interest. They lag behind their friends in class work and their performance is never pleasing. The study concluded that students engaged in domestic chores tend to have limited time for revision and may end up performing poorly at school. The study also concluded that domestic chores make students fail to concentrate in class. Domestic chores should be timetabled by parents so that they do not interfere with the students’ time for revision and for reporting to school. The parents can also get domestic workers who can help with the domestic chores as students are left to attend school and concentrate.
