dc.description.abstract The factors affecting cassava production in Kwapa sub-county are mostly pests and diseases which attack the crop which include vertebrate pests like rats and cassava brown streak disease respectively being the most common ones since this was mentioned by the highest number of respondents, and then farmers are also steadily resorting to planting other alternative crops instead of cassava, in adequate extension services in the area, the varieties being planted by the people are less resistant to diseases. Thus decline in cassava production in the sub-county. In the first place I would recommend that government agencies and non-government organizations should try their best make available improved disease resistant varieties to farmers. I would also recommend that more extension workers should be employed by the government in Kwapa sub-county so that the farmers are sensitized on the best agronomic practices as per cassava production and other important crops are concerned. There is also need to find ways of processing cassava into other finished products and find market for cassava so that farmers can sale the surplus cassava. en_US
