dc.description.abstract This was carried out to investigate the level of teachers’ innovativeness in enhancing academic performance in Nagongera Town Council, Tororo District. The researcher used both quantitative and qualitative approaches to tabulate the data for proper analysis and interpretation. The methods of data collection such as questionnaires, observation, structured and unstructured interviews were used. Multiple perspectives were used to draw meaning from the findings. This ensured quality, validity and reliability of the findings. A sample of 56 respondents was approached to fill the questionnaires which were based on the research questions. The sample comprised 7 head teachers, that is to say, 1 (one) head teacher per School and 49 teachers (seven teachers per School). This was because they are the very people expected to be more innovative if better results are to be achieved in any school. The Schools selected were; Nagongera Girls P/S, Nagongera Boys P/S, Rock Hill P/S, Mahanga P/S, Kopoi P/S, Walaweji P/S and Joy Christian School. The research revealed that though teacher’ innovation improves learners’ academic performance, most teachers in Nagongera Town Council Schools have not yet embraced the use of modern tools such as ICT tools in performing their day to day work. It is therefore recommended that Schools take innovation seriously so as to move with today’s fast changing world. Refresher courses can be organized for teachers so that they can acquire new skills that can empower them to be innovative enough. en_US
