Abstract:
In Kampala, city suburbs, towns and most of the trading centers in our country Uganda there is continuous use and much continued usage of public transport as the means of transport by the most people of Uganda. In these they include usage of carb cars, taxis, mini-buses and buses. For the case of Kampala where there is much use of the taxis and buses. These taxis and buses have designated places where they pack and wait for people to come and board them for transportation.
In the process of boarding these taxis and buses the taxi or bus driver has to pack the car and starts to put brokers who will have to call people to come and board the taxi or the bus. In the process there is continuous monitoring and shouting calling people, to check if seats have been occupied.
Finally, the car driver must be informed when the taxi or the bus is full. In this there is a problem of continuous shouting as they are calling people to come and board these taxis or buses, continuous monitoring of the people who board the taxi or buses and finally informing the driver when the car is full for them to take off. Therefore, the development of a digital alert system for number of occupants in a taxi for a taxi driver for public transport will ensure that shouting is minimized at the taxi/bus parks and the driver is informed about the number of passengers that have taken seats.
